    Here is a section of a home that was built in the last 20 years, which had no insulation over a 2nd floor bedroom. The total heigh of the insulation in this image should be at least 14” from the height of the drywall/plaster. The bathroom fan was routed through the roof with a dedicated roof vent to prevent any mold growth.

    The can lights going into the home should be sealed with covers, and the wood framing of the attic is visible indicating a lack of insulation. Even homes built after 2000 have ventilation and insulation problems that may need solved to prevent future issues.

    This wood is wet due to humidity in the attic. This was caused by a combination of a bathroom fan that was not hooked up, can lights that are leaking humidity into the attic, and a lack of soffit vents and baffles around the perimeter of the roof.

    Improper airflow and insulation is resulting in humidity from the house getting into the attic and it’s freezing on the edges of the roof. This is causing mold growth and will continue to get worse unless addressed
